Ok here it is. The RedViewer49, If it looks like you've seen it before you have. This is an updated version. Please read the tutorials first. While not great they do give some good info. Try starting with some simple things, before moving to more complex items this way you'll get an understanding of how its working. One thing you could do is first make a backup copy of the Hummer Sprite from FOT, and place it in a directory located on your C:\ drive. Maybe call the directory MyNewSprites. Now after you've installed the Viewer, open it up. Go to the File Menu and open your backup copy of the Hummer. Across the top of the Viewer, click off all but Sprites layer 1. Leave that one checked. Now go to File Menu and select Save As and give enter the name you want to save the New File as, maybe call it Hummer2. Then click Save. It will prompt you that it is starting to save. Will take a few, then it should prompt you again when done. Now go back to the File Menu and open the file you just saved. What you should now have is what I call a single layer vehicle template. Yes it dose not look as good as the orignal, its missing the other layers. It would work in the game but thats not why I had you do this. Now Create your BMPs of a vehicle. Remember they need to be close in size to the hummer images you'll be replacing. For each Animation set you need to use the same Palette for all the images. If you have looked at the Viewer you will see a Animation List Box. Each Animation Set listed in the box has a Direction Set, (Direction List Box), and each Direction Set has a Frame Set, (Frame List Box), So for each Animation Set, all the directions, and frames will use the same Palette.
For your palette you need to ensure the following 2 things; 1. For shadows you must use the Color Red=2, Green=2, and Blue=4. The shadow color must be the first color in the palette. For the transparent background color I normaly use 255, 255, 255 which is white. This color must be the last color, number 256 in the Palette. Once you have created all your BMP images and saved them in 256 color, and have saved your palette as well, Open up the viewer.
Under the Edit Menu halfway down click on the Load BMP to ZAR Form. Using the Drive List, Folder List and File List, locate your BMPs and Palette. Load the palette first by clicking on it. Now look at the bottom and if you want to convert a batch group of BMPs then click on the Convert All Button. If you are only doing a single image select it in the File List and click on Convert Single. When it promtps you done exit out of this form, back to the editer. As it exits it will ask do you want any files and folders created deleted, select No. From the editer using the File Menu Click on Open and located the folder that should have been created called C:\BMPToZAR. In this folder you should find your new ZARs. Go ahead and open a couple of them to see how they turned out. If you have the Palette right you should have good ZARs. Now Open up the Hummer2 Sprite Flie you did in the beging. Now decide which Animation, Direction, and Frame you want to change and click on it. Go up to Edit Menu and click on Import ZAR, from the window locate the C:\BMPToZAR folder and select the ZAR you wish to import, click open. from here the ZAR is Auto imported, the sprite gets saved and reopens. click back on the Animation, Direction, and Frame and it shuld now be the Image you wanted to import. You are now ready to import the next ZAR, repeat the above, till you have completed importing all the ZARs you wanted. You can try your new Sprite in the game, if you have kept it very close to the size of the Hummers orignal images then it should work well. See if it works ok, if not you may need to read section 5 of the Sprite Tutorial in the Help Menu to adjust the Frame Offsets. If all has gone well, try some others. Play around with it.
